It would definitely look a lot like the above. Now, it wouldn’t involve cockroach killing, but probably pepper spray. And I’d pay Moth to do the singing and dancing much like the fellow in the video. Oh, and most importantly, I’d use live humans rather than dead ones on string or rods, that was just some shoddy work there.
Two new Speed Racer trailers.
I have to admit that watching the trailers for the Speed Racer movie gets my blood pumping a bit. The art direction is great and the tone is a mixture of the original and updated cartoons and all the things that I disliked about Hirsch in Alpha Dog fit pretty well with his role as Speed.
Ant Man in second draft phase, Vaughn on Thor
Edgar Wright, writer/director of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and the best trailer from Grindhouse, had this to say at the 2008 Empire Awards show:</p>
“It’s written and we’re doing a second draft of it,” said Wright. “It’s going to be less overtly comedic than anything else I’ve ever done. It’s more of a full-on action adventure sci-fi film but with a comedic element \u2013 in the same spirit of a lot of escapist fare like that. It’s certainly not a superhero spoof or pastiche and it certainly isn’t a sort of Honey I Shrunk The Kids endeavour at all.”
…
“Ah well, it could be Scott Lang, it could be Hank Pym, it could be both \u2013 okay it is both, now there’s an exclusive for you.”
The Stardust director, Matthew Vaughn, was also at the 2008 Empire Awards show, and had the following small bit to say about his planned Thor movie:
“We’re in a holding pattern at the moment,” he said. “It’s up to Marvel, they have to decide if they want to make the movie and then we take it from there.”
This year we have Iron Man and Hulk coming to the big screen with hints at a possible live action Avengers movie down the road due to possible cross-over elements. With Pym and Thor coming into the picture, this becomes even more likely.
Notable quotes from the 2008 Empire Awards show
“Thank you very much. I guess the only problem with this is that Hot Fuzz was meant to be deadly serious so we obviously failed on that account.” Edgar Wright.
“I don’t know why I forgot but I know who’s won. The winner can’t be here tonight but I’ll tell you why and truly, the winner’s Keira Knightley, and this is true, I’ve just been shagging her solid for the past three weeks. Honest. Really gunning it. Some of it sensual, sensual love-making but on the whole quite brutal. Took me by surprise, quite dark a lot of it. But in between sessions, we made a little film. We recorded this. Her boyfriend came back, a bit awkward, we were like ‘Nah, we’re just having a drink, hanging out’. Literally the minute we finished taping it, I was hanging out the back of her.” James Corden.
“Well, it’s excellent to get the consolation prize. It was actually quite a hard film to make this one, Paddy will remember that it was a bit of a nightmare to get Matt out of his trailer in the morning. He struggled with the lines to be honest, it was quite easy because he was an amnesiac, but we did struggle. It wasn’t until after the film came out that we realised that he was stuck in that trailer all the time because he was fucking [Sarah Silverman] as well. So without more ado, I salute you.” Paul Greengrass
“Alright that’s fair, so thank you. First of all, I knew she had a video camera but I never thought she was going to show him and I didn’t know he was going to show everybody. It’s a little uncomfortable and my wife’s here so that’s awkward.” Matt Damon.
“No seriously, thanks very much for including us. I’d also like to salute the one-time loser Paul Greengrass over there, my friend who got out-directed by the other guys in the category he was nominated for.” Matt Damon.
“Thank you very much. Thank you very much. I would really like to have a round of applause for Chiwitel’s beard that we just saw which has sadly gone now, it was quite a monster. I worked opposite for three months and we watched it grow, how wonderful his beard was.” Ewan McGregor
The Order of the Stick is a Web comic written and drawn by Rich Burlew. Utilizing simple and yet enjoyable stick artwork with a script revolving around a group of adventurers who rarely go a strip without making out of character references to game rules and popular comic and gaming media.
My second favorite character in the comic is a half-sized, evil killing machine by the name of Belkar. Unlike my favorite character in the comic, Roy, Belkar doesn’t amuse me with his wit, his ability to point out faults in other characters’ logic, or anything of that sort. I like Belkar because he kills people at the most appropriate of time, in the most appropriate of ways, and has that one line to back it up. It’s comedic gold at its best. There’s nothing intelligent about it, but every time you can’t help but laugh as he does what he does. And, though he’s a ranger, that’s about all he does since his wisdom is so low that he can’t cast spells or perform well at many of his other class-defining abilities.
I like to think that Belkar’s killing frenzy fills that comedic spot in me where others find fart jokes, bad 70s remake comedies, and the like to be funny.
I do wish Rich had more time to update the comic more often, but if you’re new to it and like roleplaying and Dungeons & Dragons references, then you’ll enjoy this comic from start to finish. If you’re a long time reader of the comic, what’s one of your favorite characters and why?
All my work is done for the week. The people at work don’t know that, but I’m not going to tell anyone so they can load me up with more work since I finished my tasks two weeks in advance already. I think they can foot me a day of relaxation while at work.
So, while I’m not busy, I think I’ll just copy Truzdaddy again!

I’m not a big fan of Ben Stiller’s work. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that I truly enjoyed watching that had him in it was Mystery Men. But, I’m weird, and his movies do make a good amount of money.
His latest movie is Tropic Thunder (August 2008 release), a story about actors once again thrown into real-world situations without initially realizing its depth (see also Galaxy Quest, Bug’s Life, Seven Samurai). The difference with this story is that the comedic element looks to purposefully poke fun at Hollywood.
For example, Stiller’s character adopts an Asian child, but worries that “all of the good ones are gone”, turning the important act of raising a child into just a reason for more publicity. Robert Downey Jr.’s role in the movie within a movie, originally written for a black actor and therefore requiring him to dye himself black for the role (pictured above), stabs not only at racial issues in Hollywood but also the priority that executives and producers put on getting recognizable actors in roles over actors appropriate for the roles. Jack Black, surprisingly, plays a role common with many of today’s comedians who are getting into more dramatic roles, and has a lot to deal with working with someone who spends more time cracking jokes than taking their role seriously.
The movie, as it is told, touches on a lot of issues that can easily be misinterpreted by today’s audience. Unfortunately, this can be true of almost anything, especially on the Web where people purposefully look for such things just to troll forums and cause uproars from people just for the heck of it (ex. Upcoming Resident Evil 5 video game set in Africa… and why is the protagonist killing a lot of black zombies? Must be racism!). Regardless of the touchiness of the movie, I think it is a step in the right direction for Stiller and hope that the film ends up being something that actually makes people realize the idiocy of Hollywood in general.
I laugh at this because it’s funny as heck and I find it that the appropriate measures for people to be able to locally decide on laws in a manner provided by the Constitution of the United States is somewhat appropriate for a president that I feel has done his best to ignore and strip away those rights.
Vermont towns vote to arrest Bush and Cheney
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Voters in two Vermont towns on Tuesday approved a measure that would instruct police to arrest President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for “crimes against our Constitution,” local media reported.
The nonbinding, symbolic measure, passed in Brattleboro and Marlboro in a state known for taking liberal positions on national issues, instructs town police to “extradite them to other authorities that may reasonably contend to prosecute them.”
Vermont, home to maple syrup and picture-postcard views, is known for its liberal politics.
State lawmakers have passed nonbinding resolutions to end the war in Iraq and impeach Bush and Cheney, and several towns have also passed resolutions of impeachment. None of them have caught on in Washington.
Bush has never visited the state as president, though he has spent vacations at his family compound in nearby Maine.
Roughly 12,000 people live in Brattleboro, located on the Connecticut River in the state’s southeastern corner. Nearby Marlboro has a population of roughly 1,000.

Loki, why have your last two blog posts been about political issues? Politicians sometimes kind of piss me off, especially our current administration, and I post what’s on my mind. So, if you don’t like my blog posts about politics, please ignore them. I don’t try to get too wordy with them like I do my other posts, but I do like to share some of my disagreements with politics in general.
